The benefits of plastic injection moulding

Plastic injection moulding offers a cost-effective way to produce custom plastic parts using reusable moulds for speed and efficiency.

Alcast Technologies have the experience and capability to design, prototype and mould complex, intricate yet robust 3D components in a variety of shapes and sizes, and with minimal waste when using thermoplastics.

We can also create items using multiple plastics – contact us to discuss your requirements.

More about plastic injection moulding

Plastic injection moulding is cost-effective way to produce identical plastic components in great details and at any volume. Plastic resins are injected at pressure into a two-part or more mould, which is kept sealed together through a force approx. 3 to 5 times the injection pressure.

Once the plastic cools, the mould us opened and the finished component is removed, making way for the next injection. All this injection process is fully automated, and computer controlled for precise, consistently high-quality parts produced at speed and volume.

Injection plastics come in two main formats:

  • Thermoplastics are ideal for making high strength, bendable and shrink-resistant items. These plastics do not cure so they can be remelted and recycled easily.
  • Thermoset plastics cure to a hard and rigid form, providing your finished items with structural integrity, and high heat and chemical resistance.

At Alcast Technologies, our manufacturing partners can offer plastic injection and other moulding methods using:

  • ABS Plastic (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
  • HDPE Plastic (High-Density Polyethylene)
  • LDPE Plastic (Low-Density Polyethylene)
  • PEEK Plastic (Polyether Ether Ketone)
  • PET Plastic (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
  • Polycarbonate Plastic
  • Polyethylene Plastic
  • UHMW Polyethylene Plastic (Ultra High Molecular Weight)
  • Thermoplastic Elastomers
  • Glass Reinforced Plastic

We can also integrate plastic injection mouldings with machined metal parts through:

  • Transfer moulding / overmoulding
  • Insert moulding
  • Reaction injection moulding (RIM)
