Alcast Staff Awarded for Lean Manufacturing SMART program initiative
Today Alcast’s Production Manager Shayne Baker and Vice President Andrew Doesborgh were honoured for their Lean Manufacturing SMART program initiative by staff at the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development Michael Bryant, Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger, and Hamilton MPP Sophia Aggelonitis. Alcast would like to thank the Province of Ontario, the incredible staff at the CME, and Brian Marvel at the Ministry of Small Business and Consumer Services for all of their contributions.

Cold Box Core Making Process Upgraded
Today we at Alcast have committed to upgrading our Cold Box Core Making Process with the purchase of a new Loramendi Lüber Methyl Formate gas generator. This upgrade will improve cycle times which will reduce costs, increase capacity, and improve our ability to remove cores after casting.

Quality Assurance Improvement: New Digital Indicating System
Alcast’s Quality Lab received a new Tinius Olsen SR-2 Digital Indicating system today, which replaces the former analog controls and measurement techniques. This system will remove subjectivity caused by user interpretation and provide us with real time Load, Load Rate and Peak Load information on the LCD control screen.

Ontario awards Alcast "SMART" project funding
Alcast Technologies is pleased to learn today that it has received full project funding support from the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and the Ontario Provincial Government’s “SMART” initiative with respect to Alcast’s ongoing efforts to create a Lean Manufacturing environment. The grant will be used to install and upgrade automated material handling throughout the facility.
